JenChuDesign BLOG is moving!

Every year or so i reevaluate my websites and think of ways to improve the design and make them more user-friendly. This year I've decided to combine my portfolio site with my blog. If you're subscribed, go to my new site and subscribe again. Really! Go check it out. Same content, new look, new address.  I'm going to leave blogspot up for a couple months and eventually shut it down.

It was a lot of work but I'm really happy with the redesign. Big thanks to Lowell for helping me bring it to life! See y'all on the flip side...

Iron&Court Engagement Concierge.

Today is a really big day for my friends Neelima & Kristin. These talented ladies recently started a company called Iron&Court, specializing in engagement and proposal planning. They came to me a few months ago seeking creative consulting, a website, head shots...the works. (Similar to the work I did for Natasha Huang of NH Media

Their aesthetic is a good match for my design sensibility and I consider this my strongest graphic design work to date. (Big shout out to Lowell who helped me build the site) I think my favorite part was dragging them around my neighborhood, trespassing on private property with a can of hairspray under one arm and my SLR under the other, snapping headshots as strangers watched in amusement. :)

As a self-employed creative type, I'm always super supportive of friends who dare to embark on a new endeavor and start something of their own.  It isn't always easy, but it's worth it x 1000. Confucius said "Chose a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life." Believe the wise, old, Chinese guy.

Today is Iron&Court's official launch party! There's going to be music, hor d'oeuvres, an open wine bar, etc...so if you're in the Silicon Valley area and would like to celebrate with my friends or plan on proposing soon, email me and I'll get you on the list.

Office Makeover for NH Media.

My friend Natasha started her company, NH media last year and has since become one of the rising starts in fashion PR in NYC. She used to say, "Jen, when I get my office you're going to decorate it for me," and that day has finally come! She signed a lease on a new office in a prime location north of Times Square and we began planning right away. I put together a floor plan and an idea board, purchased all the furniture and accessories, then over the course of a weekend while Natasha was out of town, Andrea and I transformed the space just in time for a grand reveal to kick off fashion week.

After! Some people have mentioned that it reminds them of my mom's home office

I built a radiator cover. It's one of my favorite elements. In case you're wondering, that's a tape dispenser shaped like a stiletto on her desk. That is from her personal collection.

It's been a great month for Natasha. She has a brand new office and she was also selected as one of Bergdorf Goodman's  Faces of 5F, a competition to find beautiful non-models to feature in their fall campaigns. The ad is featured in Lucky Magazine's October issue. Go check it out!
